The Cloud Engineer Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you will assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure. You will support cloud operations to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of cloud environments. Working closely with senior engineers, you will help deploy and manage cloud services, automate cloud operations, and troubleshoot technical issues. This role requires a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
The successful candidate’s key responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor cloud infrastructure and respond to incidents and outages.
- Manage and maintain the firm's Azure and OCI infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Lead and execute hybrid migrations, including cloud-to-cloud and hybrid-to-cloud transitions.
- Provide ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of Azure and OCI resources.
- Optimize hybrid and multi-cloud network configurations for seamless connectivity and efficient resource utilization.
- Implement and manage cloud security measures.
- Manage and implement Azure Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Assist in the automation of cloud operations and deployment processes.
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cloud infrastructure.
- Document cloud architecture and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in cloud engineering or a similar role.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure or OCI.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of networking, cloud migration strategies, and hybrid cloud architecture.
- Certification in cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
